Gisela has extensive experience working in developed and emerging markets as an Operations Director, public and private sector consultant, and making a contribution to a number of educational initiatives. Currently she holds an associate professorship at Ajman University of Science and Technology.
With a doctoral degree in architecture and specialization in sustainability, she is also an architectural engineer by profession. Among the iconic projects she has worked or lead in Europe, the Middle East and Australasia are, for example; islands in Dubai, Tall tower with Ian Pei for Dubai, Masdar and over 30 high rises, with individual project values of up to US$500 million.
Among her public sector work has been the enhancement of efficiencies in government departments, drafting legislation relevant to the industry and implementing developmental decisions while reporting directly to the Sheikh. Was responsible for 80% of the Emirates annual budget in the field of Public Works, Infrastructure, Public Works in the field of Design and Project Management.
Gisela held an Operations Director position for a multi-million US$ group of companies with responsibility for more than 3,500 staff and has also worked with some of the regions leading consultancies while acting as the region’s representative to the United Nations in New York on Built Environment for several years. She has also held senior positions in academia in Britain, New Zealand and the United Arab Emirates. Among her academic roles, she has established new departments, research institutes, secured funding and designed new campuses.
