Nasser B. Abulhasan
Principal & Founding Partner, AGi architects. He received a Doctor in Design from Harvard Graduate School of Design, Masters in Architecture from the Harvard Graduate School of Design and Bachelor in Architecture and Urban Design from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, His area of research is in sustainable developments in arid climates and focuses on the perception of light in buildings. Dr. Abulhasan has extensive experience in the design and implementation of new communities and has worked on numerous high profiles master
planning projects in Europe and the Middle East. His design experience includes building types such as commercial office buildings and complexes, mixed-use facilities, government buildings, and other institutional buildings
Dr. Abulhasan worked on several major international projects for offices including SOM and Hashim Sarkis Architects until he founded, together with Joaquin Perez-Goicoechea, AGi architects in 2005.
Since then, as co-director of AGi architects, he has completed several projects in the fields of building, urban design, planning, and interior & industrial design, and has been honored on several occasions internationally. Among these prizes are: Four (4) WAF Awards, Four (4) Middle East Architect Awards, Three (3) International Property Awards; Three (3) Cityscape Awards; Three (3) A’Design Awards; MIPIM Architectural Review Future Projects Awards 2012, Hospital Build & Infrastructure Awards 2012, and a nomination for the EU Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award 2015 for “La Ascensión del Señor” Church. The office has been also recognized as Highly Commended in Hospital Builds & Infrastructure Award 2013 and the recently concluded WAF 2015 held in
Singapore for Hisham A. Alsager Cardiac Rehabilitation Center.
In addition, the firm won the first prize of the competition to build “La Ascensión del Señor” Church, in Seville – Spain, The General Department of Information System (GDIS), and the Kuwait Children’s Hospital. It was also awarded second prize in the Qatar Courthouse restricted competition, organized by the Qatar Government
At the academic level he has held teaching positions as adjunct professor at the Boston Architectural Center (USA) and Kuwait University (Kuwait). Dr Abulhasan was invited to speak at a number of international events & conferences including Design MENA, NUQAT, YourAOK, World Architecture Festival (WAF), RIFF International Architecture Expo Conference, Future Interiors Qatar and Building Healthcare Exhibition. He has also given lectures at Harvard Graduate School of Design (GSD), Virginia Tech, Dalhousie University, Kuwait University and American University of Sharjah. In 2012 he has been invited as one of the Juries in the WAF Awards held in Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.

AGi architects was established in 2006 by Joaquin Perez- Goicoechea and Nasser B. Abulhasan. The firm has introduced exceptional design, management and technical approaches to its projects in the Europe and the Middle East from its offices in the cities of Madrid and Kuwait.
With a multidisciplinary staff of more than 50 professionals including architects, planners, landscape architects, interior designers and other specialists, individual members of the design team can be carefully selected to reflect the necessary skills for the scope and scale of the project. Great emphasis is placed on continuity so that work is client driven rather than project centered.
Clients work with architects they know and over time, the team is able to develop a thorough understanding of the clients’ business objectives and priorities and is able to make more effective contributions to their projects.
